New Board System

You may have noticed the board looks different. I've installed the new version of phpBB and it has a bunch of new features, so please play around and let me know if you find anything amiss.

How the heck do I change mine from Blue?! Aren't there any options for changing the appearance? Not that I mind a change, especially if it means that I get the "spelling cow" back, but I'd like to be able to change stuff up...

Oh, do we have to join the groups that you've placed us in... and what the heck does Friends and Foes do, since there is only a friends section in it?

Friends:

Friends enable you quick access to members you communicate with frequently. If the template has relevant support any posts made by a friend may be highlighted.

Foes:

Foes are users which will be ignored by default. Posts by these users will not be fully visible. Personal messages from foes are still permitted. Please note that you cannot ignore moderators or administrators.

Interesting! So if I didn't have a responsibility to moniter content, I could ignore the banter by Fundies if I wanted. That is how it reads to me.

Kitsune, if you need a test subject, put me as a foe, and see what happens.

You cant change colors yet, as this version is too new.

The groups are things like "Global Moderators, Admins, etc." Don't worry about it.

Oh, and I pruned about 15,000 bad users. The new board has some nice features to deal with that in the future. Things like "auto-delete inactive users with 0 posts."

You can also subscribe to forums so when a new post is submitted you're notified.

The moderators now have a lot more power than before, so be careful. Try posting in the test area and then doing things to your post.

Whoa...I should not be trying all this new fancy stuff after a glass of red wine...I totally freaked out!!!

But after settling a little it looks great. I am so glad the member list is pruned, what about topics like general chat that were supposed to be auto pruned? Will that happen too, I feel that it should even though I am guilty of diggin up oldies sometimes. nad I agree with Kitsune...the life od the spelling cow was good but short. If there is ever a way to brin that back, I fully support it!

By the way, there are little icons on each post, some have a red star and some are scrolling, does anyone know what the different post icons mean?

The little star means that you have posted on that topic, so far as I understand.

I'm all for records, so I like that General Chat has not been auto-pruned. Seems a waste to lose a good topic - they seem to stray into interesting things, and I'm always looking back to settle an argument or one of those nagging questions that keep you up at 3am.

As far as I can make out, there is nothing new, it is just put in a sack shaken up and dropped out in a different pattern.

Don't see what the fuss is about, except it LOOKS better.
