I can't keep still. I am SO excited!

I got the adoption records back, and I now know my biological grandma's name!!!! She might even be alive! I have always felt a strong connection to my biological great-grandma, and hopefully soon, I will be able to know her name, maybe see pictures, and maybe even connect with a family I've never known. I am so excited, and had to share it somewhere!!

I've searched Ancestry.ca and MAY have a few leads, although the birthdate is off by a year, so we will see. Here's hoping

Wonderful - don't worry if birth dates are off a year - if its based by census - they sometimes round, also could have been a typo no one fixed.

Not to hijack CHLs thread - but I am heavy into the Ancestry.com as well and ran across something I am not sure about -

I bring it up here since we have so many Canadians here, and seems to be something regional to Quebec.

Ancestor is Nicholas Juchereau (1627-1692) but all the Children have additions to their last name:

Juchereau de Beaumarchais
Juchereau du Chesnay
Juchereau de Denis
Juchereau de St. Denis
Juchereau de Volezar
Juchereau des Aulnaies

Is this something meaningful in some way? Common practice for late 17th century Canada?

Je said pas en Canada, but it's pretty common for when family lines split or move to various reasons. Think the American equivalent of "the new York Rockwells or the Chicago Rockwells or the Boston Rockwells". I don't know the smaller towns in Canada well enough to tell if some of those are town names or just people names, i.e. Different branches based off of a specific ancestor, Denis, or a town, St. Denis, etc.
