Ouija a "look back"

Postby whitegravity » Wed Oct 13, 2004 8:16 pm

A friend of mine, an extremist christian, was discussing with me about paranormal phenomena. Inevitably we found ourselves on the topic of the infamous Ouija Board. He told me of his experiences in contacting demons, though I am not quite sure if he's just trying to tell a story or if it were true. This, like many other topics, led me on another research project. I've read many other's on the internet who have suffered a similar fate, and others who have benefitted from the board. I doubt that I will try it myself but I was just curious to how it started, other's experiences, and other concerns for my friend and I to continue our discussion. I'm vastly fascinated about the history and what-nots.
(I hope I can get the poll right, and I hope it fits in this thread)

Oh, and I'm not sure if this has been posted before, but I would like to get some info, the internet is limited on this subject...

I agree with this...you would have more luck channeling with a monopoly board.

=; OK, I'll be naughty here and throw in something just to chew on - is it not true that the real power in anything lies within the practiciner? Therefore, one could use a monopoly board to divine, a Ouija board or even a jumbled pile of laundry - if you were attuned enough to yourself, the universe, energy, what ever it is that you believe gives you the power of insight/divination. Surely there is someone else here other than me who has experienced the sudden flash of insight/divination/foresight when not even seeking it - a flash that was triggered by the shape of bubbles in your pop or the symbols that suddenly jump out at you from a tangle of brush?
All that said, I don't like Ouija boards, simply because my family used to hold weekly get togethers with good friends when I was a wee child purely for the purpose of playing with the Ouija. Don't know if it was the fact that many in my family seem to be *gifted* in some way, but I saw things that scared me done with that board. The actual board itself even seemed to have been somehow infused with nasty vibes. I know it's a fear left over from youth which likely only pertains to the particular board my family used, but I still leave the things be ;)

Man, stormy got the answer before I did. Not fair. Oh well, maybe next time, huh? Well, anyway, I agree that they probably will not have the same effect as something made for the specific purpose and not just a game. However, the real magic comes from inside of us, not the game. So I think it is possible to have good and bad experiences with it.

I myself have never experienced anything with the board, mainly because my mom thought it was a bunch of bunk, but that's my mom for you. She doesn't trust anyone or anything. Also, now that I'm older, I just have no desire to try it. So, I don't have anything to share with you except my beliefs.

We did have a thread on this before! It was very long, and I think I was the one that started it. From what I remember: The Ouija Board is based off a divination tool called a witch board. Basically, it'll work if you believe in it and know how to work with energies, but it's not something you want to mess with. Several people had some horror stories from it. Me personally; never used one. I probably will someday, but I'm not that interested. I prefer not to channel my energies through tools, but to just let it flow.

A witch board is kind of like a compact version of Divining Rods..

A Ouija Board is a comercialized and highly watered down varient.. Frankly Stormy has it right when she says its in the practicioner... Let me go buy a pack of common playing cards and do a reading for you.. Just cause they say "Trump" or whatever on them, does that make the reading invalid?

What I don't like about the Quiji Board is the constant source of Urban Legend they have become.. M. Bradly makes good money on this myth, but hey if you REALLY need something to divine with, go make a cup of tea and read the leaves...
Even the devil's got a lawyer, would you like my card?

i agree that power comes from within the practicinior but a lot of ppl, like me cant get anything from an Ouija board. It just seems funny to me to try to do anything witchy or magickal with a milton bradley game board in front of me....

But anywayz, i have only heard bad stories. Why do people always try to call up dead people or demons, etc with Ouija boards? Cant you use them for something good instead? Because its not good to mess with the astral nasties or what not thats out there, especially if your not experienced and cant put down what you called up...

well what ive heard of them is that there isnt just the one milton bradly version.. i read somewhere that people can make their own using different objects... i myself have never used them seeing as how ive come across some rather not nice sources of energy when ive been with other people messing with stuff like that... and i dont really care to go into detail bout it but the point is what has already been made.. i think it all involves the actual person doing it...and some people draw energy towards them wether it be negative or whatnot... and if they can channel that using a board with letters on it all the more power to them.. granted someone might have more luck with wine glasses filled with various liquids and asking a spirit what they would like to drink but hey whatever works for you....

well, moonbaby, to answer you on this one, yes, there was a board before the Ouija... probably the witchboard mentioned prior...

This board is much thicker, usually wooden (all of them that I have seen have been) and circular. Numbers go on an inside circle, letters on an outside and I think there was a yes and no somewhere on these boards as well.. ?
the actual eye tool used to move to answers is round as well, having seperate marked locations for fingers and the eye in the middle was a glass orb much like a scrying ball, except much cooler cuz from wherever you're sitting you can read the letter underneath...

However, I have only seen 2 of these boards, one was owned by a neighbor I had quite a while back and was passed down from her mother. The other was in a pagan shop owned by probably the most prestiged coven in Phoenix, AZ, and was not for sale, or else I would have it sitting over here somewhere and would be in well use...

These circular boards are much different, and I've always gotten an energy off of them... I want one... want...

Yeah, I've heard of the same thing but have only seen the game version. Could the bad things happening be due to anticipation of bad things because of seeing too many horror films?

Just stupid wondering thats all.

I remember in one ot the earlier threads that I mentioned some of my experiences. IF you know what you're doing, Divining can be usefull, however you must be careful. Sometimes people can get unpredictable results.

 As for using a Monopoly board, I suppose it's possible, but I don't know what it means when the indicator lands on Park Place. Like Stormy said though, if you can find meaning in it, then it works.

It isn't divining that is tricky (cards/coins/etc aren't much of a danger... worst that happens is you interprete something badly then fail to use common sense.) It is channeling that is more problematic (adding spirits to the mix.)
