need some advice

Hello, I was just wondering if any one can give me some advice as i know if i try to handle this without advice i may end up saying and doing something i will regret.

My son is Five and before Yule, he was at school and they were doing a lesson on Christmas and The teacher well head teacher asked them a question don't know what it was but my son put his hand up and said it was either Hern/ green man or Gaia, he wont tell me which one he said to the head teacher and well he came home from school all upset saying that the teacher had said he was wrong, he told me what happened and she had said that what he said was wrong and that i was wrong, well I called up the school and asked to speak to her and she told me that I was bringing my son up to be a satanist, well this has really ticked me off and I have no idea how to handle it because this effect's my son and I am VERY protective of my son, my boyfriend a shaman say's I go from being a deer to being a hissing black cat if anyone gets to close to him and I know if i go down to the school I will blow up so can anyone help with how I can handle this or give me something to say to shut her up my family I can handle saying stuff but the head of a school.

Okay, first off, BREATHE! Deep breath in, and out. GOOD! (Sorry, sarcastic humor sometimes helps)

Now, what are the laws regarding what your school can and cannot teach your kid? I don't know your laws, b/c I'm a USA girl...and we're different. But I see that you're from England. Before you go Ape Sh** on these people, you have to know what your legal legs are.

Personally, I would write a very carefully crafted letter to the Principle and School board...or whomever is in charge...that makes it quite clear that you do not appreciate the school undermining your religious choices and confusing your young child. Depending on your legal legs...you can also make the appropriate threats (Suing, removing the child from their school, excetra) if this persists. If you feel you need to explain things, then go about it in an educated and eloquent fashion...it seems less threatening to people in authority if those of not-mainstream faiths show they are educated and have researched.

Try to keep the hissing and spitting to a minimum...it will only strengthen the belief that you're doing something wrong to them.

I agree with Kystar. Get a good look at your legal standings, and act accordingly. There is no tolerance in my books for that sort of prejudice. This is harassment on a "minority" religion (not really a minority, as we know, but many will not admit it to the Census) and you have rights.

I would try to keep the hissing and spitting to a minimum, but if you can have a long and calm talk with the "head teacher" about what right he has to dictate the religious upbringing of your child and embarrassing him in front of his class, all the better.

I would say maybe have a talk with your son about when to mention this stuff but that's absurd. The dark ages are over and darn it! We should not have to hide it just so these b***ers can pretend that they are right!

Maybe talk about the history of the persecution of our ways in history to your son, and how many people are still in that mindset, and it only means that they are insecure in their own religious standings (How could you be secure in believing in a hateful god?), that the Christian religion is expressing their way of honouring the Divine and sometimes it gets out of hand and they think that their way is the only way.

What has happened is not right and you need to take a stand. I am so sorry that your son has experienced this. Be sure that he will be a stronger person, and probably a stronger Pagan because of it.

For the last sentence: I want to say that he'll be stronger in his religion, be it Xian or Pagan or whatever he chooses.

I also agree on finding where you stand legally, and within the schools guidlines of their religious teachings. If the threat is possible, use the threat of discrimination - cause thats exactly what is happening there (in my point of view). No teacher has the right to say that to any child at all, I dont care if they're in a xtian school, they are not allowed to discriminate against a child's (and therefore a parents) religious leanings. Do let us know how things go.

The school were told when he first went to school what he was and they didn't say anything to me then nothing at all. I'm actually going to speak to a lawyer in a couple of days and the council Having people who understand my belief's to tell this too is great.

i heard of something similar happening in a high school in Western Massachusetts a few years ago. a young girl was wearing a pentacle necklace and was threatened with expulsion if she didn't immediately take it off.

long story short: she sued. she won.

We got them on racial/cultural discrimination. But didn't have a spare couple of tens of thousands laying around to take it further.

This would not work in the case of Wicca, because it is not "race specific" under the law.
