This is not fair..I wanna cry...have you ever heard any one saying "Ill cry if Kerry wins??" no...But LOTS of people say that they'll cry if Bush wins...theres something fishy about this...If every gay and pagan person voted kerry I would THINK kerry would win. and plus they say my govener volentaily came out of office...Thats BS they pushed him saying "we should have a gay govener!!"

Everything is a conspiracy and now the country's gonna go to heck. I'm going with what was said earlier: Bush doesn't have to worry about reelection, so who knows what he'll do next. I've been having visions of 1984 ever since Wednesday when I found out. And the people voting for moral reasons: that basically means they were right-wing christian homophobes. This is a major set-back for gay and Pagan civil rights...

Actually it was illegal for him to seek election and he was never elected in the first place. Necon sleight of hand got him in office four years ago and this time around a combination of different things got him back in the saddle again with a Jethro Bodine smile. It makes me wonder if the South is taking revenge on the North.

Weird thing though, all Third Parties did not do very well. Nader actually did better than they did in states where voting for him was allowed. At least that what I read. The Libertarian Party did better than the Green Party but not enough for anyone to notice.

England.. Holland.. Sweden.. Spain.. Canada..? Are you a liberal? Are you at all patriotic? I'm not directing this at anyone particular person. I'll admit, I considered moving to a different country a few years ago, but something dawned on me. This the United States of America. We stay here and fight. We can make sure that our candidate gets elected next time, but we have to put our energy into it. I know it seems like the power of the people has diminished over the years, but it's still there. Don't like the president's thinking? Do something about it. Don't like the war in Iraq? Do something about it. It was the people's voice that got our troops out of Vietnam eventually. If you want change, make it happen.

I believe that too many people are apathetic these days and follow the propaganda spewed forth from the media. I remember the Vietnam era and today's mindset is very different than it was back then. I remember that the vets were looked upon with disdain because civillians were killed. Civillians are killed in Iraq but most American won't hear about the numbers and the majority do not care.

Before the election, I went to Metro Park here in Jacksonville to see the Eyes Wide Open exhibit. http://www.afsc.org/eyes/ That will make you cry. I strongly urge anyone who has the chance to go and see this. I've posted some of the pictures I took in my LJ.

Well Aero, now whenever you go and try to do anything about it the government strikes you down. Police brutality is kept out of the papers and the public eye, exclucing a few exceptions. If you're arrested at a political protest and get the daylights beat out of you by a cop, or get pepper-sprayed when you're even protesting peacefully, the cop gets a medal, the government covers the whole thing up and the CIA has you tagged for life.

My reason for living in another country is because no matter what you do, the government doesn't listen. We have this transparent facade of democracy, but the general public refuses to see through it. The whole world sees what our government does, but we of all people don't! The only things Americans care about (not all of course I mean the general population) is sex and violence and fast food. I'm sick and tired of it. I'd rather go to a country where education, and family is more important and the government is at least slightly less corrupt and stays the heck out of other countries' business.

I'm sorry that I sound angry. I don't mean to be all defensive, but when it comes to stuff like this I'm rather passionate and get carried away. I'm not offended by what you said , and I hope you're not offended by what I said. I'm just trying to get my views across.

Well, Melina.. Isn't that a bit of pessimistic view? There are ways around all the problems you just mentioned. First off, revolutions are never pretty. We're fortunate that there was as a little bloodshed as there was in the '60's and '70's. No one lost their head. But there are ways to make yourself heard. If you're afraid of police brutality, make sure someone is there with a camera. Make sure there are tons of cameras there. Cops think twice when there are cameras. Videos of cops beating unarmed, peaceful protestors are great for lawsuits. I think our country is too litigious anyway, but when people, even cops, break the law, there should be repercussions. Want an example of someone making sure that police brutality gets reported? Check out this story from 2600. The RNC Experience Now, I would consider that this is just some biased left-wing attempt to make the police and RNC look bad, but I happen to know the author personally. I've met him on several occasions and happen to know that he has no motive for reporting lies. Don't want the police beating on you? Make sure it's on tape. Don't like pepper-spray? Make sure it's on tape. We're americans, and even if we're not proud of our country, we should strive to fix it. Have you noticed that other countries around the world are starting to act more and more like America? IF we don't fix it here, we may not have any place to live that we like. Check out Rammstein's video 'Amerika' (Register and you can download it) if you don't understand what I'm talking about. All the laws you don't like here will shortly follow you around the world. I know this sounds ridiculous, but it's where we're headed.

Lastly, Melina, don't apologize for sounding angry. This is something we should all be angry about. When someone is trying to take your country away from you, you fight and take it back. We're not pop stars with the ability to live anywhere we may like. I don't see A Perfect Circle moving to a different country. They've decided to stay and fight. Just look at their new video for A Perfect Circle's cover of 'Imagine' (warning: Clicking on this link will start the streaming download of 'Imagine' and the interview to go with it).

Stay and fight. It's what makes America the greatest country on the planet, not all the money, corporations and military.

I completely understand what you're saying. Yeah, catching it on tape would help, but not much. The general public would call you a hippie and say you got what you deserved. I just sick of seeing 10% of the population care what their government takes away from them and the other 90% considering their government to be infallible and not caring much anyway. I'd rather be somewhere where when you did fight back, it made a difference. Where a political protest would shed light on something for a lot of people. And where your fellow citizens who have everything to gain and everything to lose would stand up with you rather than trying to help the government keep you down.
