New TSA security proceedures

Post by runewulf » Mon Nov 08, 2010 3:55 pm

I can't believe this wasn't already posted, but http://wildhunt.org/blog/2010/11/pnc-mi ... -down.html is the article post over at WildHunt. This is absolutely atrocious. Sorry, but someone grabs me, it best be by invitation unless you're looking to commit suicide or at the very least, permanent maiming. I feel so sorry for this poor girl Celeste. That agent should be happy he found someone like her to do the enhanced pat down on as opposed to someone like me who has a only the fight part of the fight or flight instinct. The man would have had a broken arm, at the very least.

Guess what y'all, ol RumeWulf is now even more against flying now. Cross continental hops only. Je pense trains, boats and autos pour moi, merci bien.

OKAY!!!!

So I went from reading runewulf's post and feeling mildy upset about this, to (by reading the article) skipping through shock and dismay, and straight into a fiery rage!

I find it hard to believe that the U.S. has really come to this; I'm sorry, I just have a really hard time accepting that things have gone this far now. It'll only get worse before it gets better, but wow I hope that's soon.

The pat-down is only if you don't want to go through the nude body scanner.

Makes me glad I don't fly.

Though, given the choice, I'll go for the scanner, as I don't care about the grainy images, but I'd rather not have some stranger grabbing random body parts that are not exactly PC. [-X [-X [-X

I'm pagan and have been the majority of my life. I have no issues with sex or touching, but require the toucee have my permission. I don't like the scanner thing either, honestly. There are other ways to accomplish the same goal without stipping privacy from individuals. Seriously, if it was really just about "security", there are better methods and to be honest, I cooed beat it with both low and high tech, so it's rather pointless. Just bad choices on the government's part in my opinion.

You'd be surprised at how hard the scanners are to beat, part of the objection to them, but for pat downs - a "fat suit" will cover most anything.

This is one of the things we are not looking forward to when we head over to that side of the globe next year. US airport security .. It's on my "do not wish to experience, but am going to have to tolerate" list.

This is exactly why, when hubby and I book flights in the future, we will not fly anywhere there is a transfer in the USA. Aside from the health hazards of full body scanners (which, by the way, have been used on random people in the streets), this is ridiculous, wrong, and to do that to children??!!

Edit to add: Here's something interesting to watch on the whole matter NOT saying I agree with the site or the man, but he has some interesting things to say

WH,

Fly to Vancouver & drive across ;) I would, this has gotten beyond ridiculous. We are now more paranoid & anal about airport security than Israel, the previous world wide winner since the early 90s.

We would darlin, but we have plans not only to work out where to catch up with you, but also going on down to San Fran, and Vegas .. I cannot go to America without going to Vegas .. lmao And we are catching up with friends there as well. So we were pretty much heading home from America ... Sigh? We shall see what pans out though :-D
