Divination -

Post by Hytegia » Wed Jul 15, 2009 8:16 pm

"As I pondered if many Tomes of Forgotten Lore..."
-Edgar Allen Poe

Well, that would describe my day almost totally outright. You see, I'm going to start this post with how I came across the Tome in Question by discussing the events of the Last two days:

-----------------------------------------

Yesterday, at about 10:52 AM, I was awoken from my sleep by a knocking on My Window... Cursing, I slowly dragged myself from my bed and took a note to Recharge my Wards about my house when I saw the sight once more. I was half awake when I lifted the window, looking to the Garage roof and shouted:
"The **** is your problem? I mean, waking someone up at-"
You see, I stopped myself when I saw that Athena, for some reason, was sitting on my Roof, garbed in a Greek apparel. I stammered out an apology, and tried to make a hurry for my Room to get cleaned up. She smiled and shrugged-
"If the Gods want something done, child, the universe will bend to it... Now come out here, we have much to discuss."

And, ofcourse, if something is ever needed that a God or Goddess appears and says something, it's best suited to follow their directions. So, in my sleeper pants and my Lynard Skynard T-Shirt I crawled out onto the roof, and sat with her. It was a long talk about what my troubles were, and then some, which I won't really go into more than issues with my Lady Fair... (Ex - Lady Fair, as of that morning. :( ).
But, it ended in a conversation about forewarding my own Magickal pursuits-
Now, Athena's not a big fan of Magick or the Sort with me (I'm sure she has her reasons - but I made the point to her that, without it, we would have never met and I would be another dull cog in the Machine of Life) but she gave me her input about the lack of Books and such in the area...
"They're always somewhere, child. Perhaps, you're simply not looking in the right Mussle to find your Pearl."

And, so, (feeling better, and realizing her advice she gave me) I decided to Delve into the OTHER Libraries here in Nowhere. And, as it happened, I came to pass my eyes in the College Library of Nowhere what my eyes could barely believe... Tears welled within my skull as I set my sight on an ENTIRE SHELF dedicated to Paganism, Wicca, Witchcraft, and other such studies!
So, the most entirety of Yesterday was spent reading the works of several Wicca-based history-like texts, that included some theory and other such things... And (near the end) I literally DID cry when I saw, amoung several old books and reprint 1600 pamplets, the titles that I would check out and read into the early mornings:

CROWLEY, A.
BF 1588

And so, I read into the dawn of the next morning, promptly returning to the Library and reading other such works-

--------------------------------------------

And, all that intresting tale aside, I come to the Tome I have recently uncovered for myself on Divination. Now, I do a form of Divination by doing what I call "Passing the Divide" where I leave my Body and simply pass out to the Highest planes I can reach, and just look down on all the Planes below me and at the happenings around me to see if I can abjurate an answer from such Chaotic happenings... And have been mostly correct the 2/2 times I could actually REMEMBER it and not pass into some trance where I fail and fall asleep Spiritually. I also play with Tarot cards on occasion!

It includes many illustrations and fun things on the Subject, but I have a few intrests that I hope you could help me in -
Astrology, Dowsing, and some Water and Wax deal (can't find the exact page here for now). And more things I could be intrested in.

:P

I can't help you with any of those.

The only Divination types I use are either various types of Scrying (Water Scrying, Flame Scrying, occasionally Shadow Scrying), Tarot or Glyphs (personalized runes). I've recently picked up a book that had Yes/No stones in it. It's a simplistic "throwing of the bones" kind of thing...they're good for quick confirmation.

When I can't get a straight answer out of ANYTHING, I'll go Dreamwalking to see if someone can give me a clue...throw me a bone, ppl!

I have read SOMEWHERE about a Scrying method by which you pour melted wax into a bowl of water and interpret the patterns created. Sort of a variant on tea leaves. But, I don't know the details of how to interpret the symbols or anything.

Good luck.
You say "Witch" like it's a bad thing!

Thanks Ky. :D
It's something like that... I think it's called a "Firebowl" or something.

I've had incredible luck with the water and candle wax one. It takes time to prep though, to get enough liquid wax in the candle it takes a good 20 mins. sometimes more depending on the candle and if there's a breeze. The upside is that it gives you time to really think and meditate about whatever's going on. Tall, fat pillar candles work the best, you know the ones that come in packs, and don't worry about needing a new candle each time, just designate a big white one to divination and you should be just fine. I've also found that the water does wonders for my house plants when I'm done, just be sure to take out the wax first. :-)

Is Dowsing the same as pendulum stuff? :-?

Best of luck, and have fun. :-D

Dowsing is Pendellum stuff, yea.

Also Dowsing Rods could be used to find underwater deposits of Water... Which has SCIENCE to back up the Phenominon, but is still cool to watch you step over a water pipe and them pull together.

Oh, ok. I was thinking dowsing was the thing with finding water. Hey thanks. :-D

I've done a little with the pendulums, they're nice when you just want a yes or no, and they're easy to use on the go. I carry ribbon with me everywhere anyways so it's so easy and you can use just about anything for the weight. You can even get creative and use flowers or tree twigs that correspond to your needs.

Forgotten Oceans! I haven't seen you on in forever! I think it may have been a full year now! (or does it only seem that long... )

Welcome back, and let us know what you've been up to!

Coolies!
I'm working on Runestones now. I made my own set and EVERYTHING! :)
And, so far, it's been good on a matter of many relational things........

Runecasting is like Tarot Reading in alot of ways. But, when you reach in for the stone, with the question in mind, then you're subjecting yourself to what the Norse practitioners called the Wyrd.
The Wyrd is a state of the Universe, and when you're leaving it to the chance of the Rune Stones you're asking the living state of the Universe, the Wyrd, an inquiry on the current situation at hand - and it will give you what you need to see.
:)
I hope Athena knows that I'm very thankful for this new practice at which I can ask input without haveing to cross the Divide!
