Eragon *Spoilers inside*
So I just finished reading the next book in the Eragon series, while I have enjoyed the books I have to say two things. First, this author should not write politics and second, has anyone else gotten the sense that the discussion of right and wrong in these books is very black and white.
I have always enjoyed books with complex characters who are good but with bad traits and vice versa. I got put on to this by the scence where the leader of the rebel group decided to whip eragons brother for insubordination.
Maybe I am just too non-heirarchical for my own good. But I like characters where you aren't sure (i.e. Malfoy in Harry Potter, Verin in the wheel of time) and I don't like systems where authority is so structured.
Other than this little discrepency I enjoyed the book (even though we now have to wait for another to come out).

I agree the characters seem a bit black and white but the story is interesting and I'd like to see how it all turns out. I do think the next book may have more depth to it, just because the author is a little older now

I'm hoping so. I really had to slog through the parts about the dwarves picking a king.
I am on to Elantris now by Brian Sanderson...its pretty good.

I wish I had more time to read. I am hoping at Christmas to get some down time and bury myself in a book...a really big book!

Any thoughts on which one, I have to get back to reading some books for school, they have piling up and the bigger the pile, the less I want to attack it!

Well, once again, SM Stirling is awesome!
(Yeah, I know, I mention him whenever book suggestions come out
)
Remember to keep some of your calander open in April and May Willow! I'll be doing my editing and contacting my beta-testers for my book about then.

Reading for school is not really as much fun as reading something for the fun of it. I remember slogging through my computer programing stuff - just about put me in a coma.
As to what to read - I don't know. I was thinking of heading to the second hand book shop and see if anything jumped out at me or perhaps an old favorite. I have Aasomv's Foundation series and I really liked that.

Thanks for giving me the heads up Kitsune, I can't wait to read what you wrote!
I am reading the "book of Negroes" (It's a Canadian book in one of our yearly competitions) right now and "Paris 1919" for fun. I just finished Midnights Children (phenomenal) and Elantris (pretty good).
Stirling! I knew you had suggested soemone a while ago!

The guy is incredible. SM Stirling is the only author I know of who actually answers his fan mail, and he's been giving me advice on breaking into the publishing world!
The man is a genius. I'm nearly done reading his newest book, "The Scourge of God". It's the second book, of the series The Sunrise Lands. This series happens ten years after the end of the trilogy Dies the Fire. And Pagans (real pagans like we might meet nowadays) are main characters. The man is a genius. Absolutely brilliant!
