I will defend their right to a religion, but I also open up satanism to the same....constructive criticism...that I believe every religion should be subject too.

I think there is a difference and there are similarities and that is fine. I have met Satanists who are aweful people, and Satanists who would give their life for you in a heartbeat. I think we need to take each case and each person individually.

I agree with Willow on this. I support their right to their beliefs but, they need to understand that they are subject to our criticism as well. They don't just get to dish it.
My point is that we should not have to deal with their bad rap too when we really are not against or mocking of christianity.
I think outsiders would be more accepting if they absolulely knew that we were not Satanists.

morgana wrote:Hmm, well yes and no. SHOULD they be lumped in with Pagans? Probably not as it is a completely different belief system, but they ARE because by the Christian definition of the word "pagan" all belief systems that aren't the "Big 3" (ie Christianity, Judaism and Islam) are classified as pagan.
The way I see it any one who relys on the bible for their inspiration, even if the purpose is to do the exact opposite of what it sais, IS a christian. What makes a satanist interpreting the bible any less christian than the "heretics" of the Middle ages?

That is the way I fight this "Pagans are satanist" crap that you get from fundies.

I agree with Ragnar on that... satanists are just another form of christians... they may distort the "teachings" of the christian religion, but they still utilize them and follow them, even if in a distorted fashion.

I thought that was what they asked from OTHER people?

I have met the same type of charecter mix, as youi describe, in ALL religions. So, it is only natural that satanists are the same.

I actualy find some of them quite interesting to talk to.
