Sisterhood of Avalon: A different spiritual journey

KITCHENER — While some go to church to worship their God, Tiffany Lazic sails on a barge to the Island of Avalon off Glastonbury, England.

Surrounded by ancient trees, she walks amidst an apple orchard and admires the mother tree or the holy waters of the red spring fountain. Each visit is a meditation, a journey to ancient Avalon and a self-reflective trip into her mind.

“I wanted something just for me,’’ said Lazic, the hearth mother of the pagan group — the Sisterhood of Avalon.

“I was just blown away by the women I met. It felt like a community of like-minded women focusing on their own personal journeys,’’ said Lazic, 44, who’s practiced other forms of paganism for about 20 years. “This feels like home.’’
