Thanks everyone, I am feeling a little more at ease now that I have your insights. I really hated the idea of not having a tree, so I will put one up but consider it a Solstice tree, I'll decorate the fire place mantle with Holly and/or pine boughs, I'll bake cookies and continue to buy presents for our Christian family and friends. I want my home to be warm, loving and welcoming to all that visit during the holiday season. Keeping things "somewhat normal" should avoid uncomfortable questions, raised eyebrow and confrontations. But like CHL I won't hesitate to ask family to respect me while in my home, if they can't they'll be asked to leave. And, Kitsune, love the santa song!! Again, thanks!! flyaway:

My mom, sis, niece and I decorated my sister's Christmas tree last night. I got a bunch of ornaments to put up on our tree from my mom while I was there. I'm going to be making some dough ornaments of symbols of my own with my niece this week :) and we're getting the tree this weekend, something we can plant again outside later. That's another thing you might like are some symbols that mean something to you on your tree. Ours will have all the traditional santas, angels, babies, rocking horses, nutcrackers, etc, but many pagan symbols too. Something that many Christians seem to be real great with is the Triquetra. I walked around town for a year with a big triquetra and a Celtic knot representing a shield and reminding me of Cuchulain. These I had drawn on my purse, which sat across my back like a pack. I got compliments from all types of Christians, Pagans, artists, etc.

I've posted asking for some other symbol ideas here in case you are interested. It might make you feel even better about your Solstice tree. :)

I'm glad you feel better about it now Clettko. I think I suscribe to a similar belief of Hytegia - any excuse for a celebration :-) I'm sure no one will say anything if your home is decorated with sparkly and colourful things!
