Fundie Sister + Pagan Wedding Plans =

Welcome to Fundies! Here you can discuss, vent about, or bash fundamentalists of all persuasions. That means pagan fundies, too.

Would you ask a Fundie sibling to be in your pagan wedding?

NO WAY! They wouldn't even get an invite!

Good luck! :-D

I went back and read about your situation and I'll be curious to know how it goes. My fiance and I would like to have a pagan wedding also, but we'll have to drop it on our families - we're still strategizing on that part... *lol*

Everyone had good ideas, and I hope it goes okay. :-o

BOUCNING OFF THE WALLS!!

OKay, so First off, thanks everyone for the good wishes.

Just so everyone knows, my coversation with my sister and my brother in law went off without a hitch. Turns out they are friends with some pagans in Tx...and that they are "godparents" to the adopted children of these pagans.

The only problem they might have with the weddin would be work-related conflicts.

SO, I'm happy, I'm glad it didn't turn out as my worst imaginings predicted.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE WHO IS FACING THIS, I HOPE YOU HAVE AS GOOD A RESPONSE AS I DID!!

HUGS!

I found out that my mom prepared them a little because she told them the basic outline of my plans, after I told her not to, because I didn't want her in the middle.

SIGH, parents!

But Good luck to the other couples who have to work around this!

It is good that everything worked out in the end and maybe it was actually a great boon for your mother to break the ice a bit.

I think it might have helped, but it did confuse them just a little bit...b/c I had to do some SERIOUS explaining.

Now that all THAT is squared away, I get the joy of the regular wedding woes, location, caterer, dresses, finding an officiant, finding a seamstress...sigh...good thing I got a year!

That's great news!

I hope that some day I can manage to explain things to my family. But we'll have to wait and see on that.

Good luck with all your planning.

Thanks. Planning will go better when we know more about money and jobs.

It's hard to explain your beliefs sometimes. It took my mom hearing from a 17 year old daughter of a friend that she "knew a little about Wicca" for her to accept that my beliefs do actually count as a religion! Family can be weird...mainly because they have this idea in their heads of who you should be that they made up a long time ago...adn they keep trying to cram you inot it.

I don't believe there's a "set" ceremony for Pagans, it all depends on what path you follow and what gods and goddesses you worship.
We're having an invocation of the Four Elements be the major part of our wedding ceremony.

I'd do research into what marriage ceremony stuff is attached to your beliefs or dieties.

And since I brought up my wedding, I thought I'd give the world an update.

I bought my wedding gown this weekend!

Since my Tony is also occassionally on this board, i can't post a pic...but I just wanted to share...since I'm giddy. It cost me less than $500, and it's GORGEOUS!

I'm sorry I can't...it is wonderful...but I swear that as soon as the wedding is over, we'll make a nice HUGE online gallery to share with all of our online friends!
