So yeah, Jack Chick, my new least favourite guy. We did a little study on fundamentalism in class. This is some crazy stuff. Anyway I thought this was by far the worst.
A nice little lesson in Islam
http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/1054/1054_01.asp
And this one is an intersting take on the pagans and Wiccans
http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/5012/5012_01.asp
We I am sure we have heard it all before and I am sure they get enough evil letters but I just can't believe how innaprpriate the Msulim one is, could you be any more seterotypical. Anyway I am not sure what to do. I know not all Christians are like this but this guy definately deserves a fundie rant.
Blessings

OH my goodness...So offended, so angry. I'm so mad I cannot even express it thoroughly enough. They didn't even have all their facts straight. AND THE BLATANT PROPAGANDA!!!!! What the heck! So angry... How could someone print something so offensive and untrue? And the way he made the "witches" use curse words constantly to make them sound like bad people... And he said we're all possessed and that's why we're Pagan! IT's just so awful... And yes, the Islamic one was just awful. I really thought Susy seemed evil. She used peer pressure and propaganda on those girls, and the insinuation that the Muslims were terrorists "Come on Amir we're going to the airport." Not even funny. And Allah is Arabic for "God." IT"S THE SAME FREAKING GOD!!!!

Not only was that offensive, but it's incredibly hurtful. I say this every time, but now that the anger is wearing off, I'm just starting to feel hurt. It's so hard to believe that someone could tell lies, and paint horrible portrayals of people just because they're a different religion... I respect people of all religions, I just wish I could get the same courtesy.
Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!-

Those preaching in those tracts tends to irritate all but the chorus.

On a humorous note, there is a pagan spoof of them... I'll see if I can find the link again (it has been a while). One does the "Other People" explination by Zell, one has Vikings for School Prayer. They aren't hateful like the Chick tracts, but convey the message well.

   . . . I'm sorry but that absolutely cracks me up! I know there are people out there who believe that junk, but it is soooooo funny. I thought it was a spoof at first until I read the bottom part! Okay, there are people out there who believe that crud, but they are small minded and, honestly not worth the time to worry about. Yes, it makes me angry . . yes this guy is a little screwed up, but there isn't much to do about besides be who we are. The funniest part of the whole thing is that he even has some of his CHRISTIAN facts wrong! Saying that the King James version is the only english version that satan hasn't messed with . . . . riiiiggggghhhhtttttt . . . I'm sorry, but there IS no truely translated ENGLISH version of the bible.

This guy is even extreme for most Christians.

Oh, yes. Harry Potter turned me into an evil witch. suuure.

that person obviously hasn't read harry potter, because of all the things it had listed that were in harry potter, only the crystal balls were in there. And only fir a little part.

 I'm just a little obsessive with Harry Potter... *cough*

But oh my goodness! That comic was so horrible! Although it would be nifty to see a large ink blob come flying out of someone like happened in there....

Now that I have gotten over the shock of reading the comic, I find it hilarious. Fundies are funny.

Especially as the King James translation is believed to be one of the most flawed by everyone who doesn't suscribe to it..........

I'll admit that the witch one was so farfetched that it was funny, but I don't find the Islamic one to be humorous in the least bit. I hear stuff like that coming out of people every freaking day. People will actually read that one and nod along in agreement. Plus, I'm used to hearing people say witches are evil. I don't like it, but it's a common stereotype. The muslim hatred has only started since 9/11, and has had very serious results on the lives of many Muslim-Americans. I just can't laugh at something that strikes so close to home.

I will admit that the Muslims have been treated horribly since 9/11, however, there has always been intolerance for them in this country . . . even way before 9/11. I found humor in it simply because of the way the portray Mohammed vs. Jesus . . . this man is unfortunately very very uninformed about his OWN religion and I find it funny that he can live in a glass house and throw those kinds of stones. Believe me, Muslims are just as used to dealing with Chrisitan fundies as we are. I just, personally, find ignorance hysterical!

I don't know whether I should laugh or cry. It's really very sad that some people can be that ignorant of their own religion and yet try to witness to the world at large. Fear makes such a great recruiting tactic.

Did anybody else notice that most of the references they list are published by the same group that puts out the tracts? The witchcraft one was wildly inaccurate, and seemed to be directed more against popular entertainment than anything else. Harry Potter and Charmed are such evil creations. As has already been said, there were no tarot cards or ouija boards in the Potter books and while crystal balls were used, they were not of major importance. As for charmed, to me it seems like more of a fantasy series than an introduction to true witchcraft. Are they going to condemn the Lord of the Rings books next? There's magic in those too.

I especially liked the part where uncle Bob cast the demon out of his niece. Anybody here being possessed by a demon? Does your spirit guide take complete control of you and make you say things you wouldn't normally say? I know my Gods don't.

I'll stop now. If I gripe about them too much, I might start to take them seriously. And that's the last thing I want to do.

Actually, one of my grandparent's favorite things to do when I was a child and having a fit . . . they would put their hands on my forehead and say "Satan, in the name of Jesus, GET OUT" . . . . how's THAT for screwing with a child's self-worth. I thought I was possessed by Satan for a good number of years. Ya know what? It never worked . . I still continued to have fits and yet they still continued to believe that it would work someday. That's why that part of the cartoon had me ROTF . . . it is so weird what people will believe in the name of "God" . . I'd like to see someone try that on me now. I highly doubt it would make me want to prostrate myself on the floor and repent my sins to the "one true God" . . lol

Actually, one part that also got me was the fact that, in the Muslim directed one, God and Jesus were portrayed as the same entity. I don't know about other Christian beliefs, but I remember very clearly having a discussion with my grandparents about that. Doesn't the bible clearly state that God the Father and Jesus the Son of God???? In fact, Jesus very clearly says that he is NOT God . . that God is his father.

Grrrrrr . . . crazy fundies . . .

You should see the one on Druids. Druids on Samhain would demand human sacrifice and when they got their victim they would leave a pumpkin--with a burning candle made of human fat, a jack-o-latern--to keep demons from attacking that household. Well, in ancient times the pumkin did not exist anywhere in Europe. Just in the Americas. Human fat does not burn well either. So, this Jack T. Chick fella is nothing but a propagandist that George W. Bush would love.

I know, it is so ludicrous, it just frightens me that I grew up on those stereotypes. I am seriously debating if the muslim one is hate litereature. The timing is awful and uuggghh, just makes me angry sometimes.

It frightens me how many people take some of this seriously. now that the schock is off I am starting to laugh a little. His abilty to draw everyone bad like a demon is quite the skill, and so is his creative research. I wonder if there is anything I could do about him. I am guessing he gets a lot of letters and stuff, I would just hate to see the one person who takes this stuff too seriously. oh well. I am not through with this research yet, I had to go to Jerry Falwells site too and that was scary. I am not sure if hte words in the web address are appropriate so I will leave it to your imaginations.
