Thanks guys.

I'm just hoping I can keep it up. I would love to hit my weight goals for the year prior to heading out to Surrey in October.

My main problem is the fact, that even running all around the Falkland Islands, playing murder ball four times per week, river runs, Commanding officers runs, and doing five to ten Kilometers every day before breakfast, not to mention the normal gym sessions they have in the army, I have, since the age of 16 or 17 NEVER been under 90/95 kilo, or over 115, in my entire LIFE.

So just HOW I am supposed to reach my "reccomended 70 kilo, and STAY there, I have no idea. But HAY! Doctors are WONDERFULL at THEORY(!)

A small aside from diets, although tenuously linked, I was at the first diabetic schooling from my doctor, as opposed to the hospital, yesterday.

Some wee slip of a girl who looks 16 if she is a day starts by asking everyone in the room how long they have had diabetis, and what treatment we have. Comes to me. "I have had tablets for three years (? or about that many), but since mid June I have to inject." So then she starts lecturing me on BE (?) levels, and the right dose of insulin, and how diet can effect that.

"I am not on insulin".

"But you inject. It MUST be insulin".

"No, it is non insulin dependent"

"So what do you inject then" In one of these sneering "this should be good" tones of voice.

"Victoza", which is Liraglutid".

"I have never heard of it. Whats that?"

Oh BOOYYYY! "SO, you have never heard of what is the most important advance in diabetes treatment since discovering pig insulin can be used on humans, and you have the f****ng CHEEK to be running diabetes schooling sessions????"

I will not be going back.

Something that the doctors seem to be missing is that you can be healthy and weigh more due to muscle that what the recommended weight is. I'd suggest, if you have it available, having a body fat test done. They basically pinch you (not hard) and measure how much skin and fat you have at each location. Then they calculate your fat percent. I believe men should be between 7% and 10%, while women should be above 10% because of child bearing. There are scales that can measure this as well, but they aren't as accurate.

You may be perfectly fine, aside from the diabetes thing. Yes, being overweight can increase your risk for diabetes but there are a number of people that aren't overweight by much and still have it because of genetics.
