Cold Sores

Post by Kitsune » Mon Jul 17, 2006 10:43 am

Okay, so the last time I had a cold sore, I was 18. I'll admit it, I've been extremely lucky. However, now I've got one the things sitting there in my lip, and it hurts. :-(

Anyone know any herb or incantation or something to help get this thing hence a little faster than the usual 2-3 weeks?

Honestly, if it weren't for the fact that I have to talk all day I wouldn't worry about it. It's not like it's burst yet or anything, but it does make talking a little uncomfortable.

Okay, I looked it up in my handy-dandy herbal book and found this:
tea tree oil and lavender oil.
Blessed be.

Considering it's also known as "recurrent herpes labialis", all you can do is treat the symptoms. Good luck, though.

And your immune system :)

If these guys start coming regularly, try echinacea every day, in capsule form or tincture. It is a great boost for a healthy immune system :) and will help prevent cold sores. And fresh veggie juices, but those are good for nearly everything except ulcerative colitis.

Would you be my guinea pig? If you have a juicer, drink one or two glasses of fresh carrot juice a day for a week. Tell me if that effects them or not: It's great for your skin, and it's also great for your immune system, eyes, etc.

Sorry, I don't have a juicer, elsewise I'd try it for you... Even though I'm not generally fond of carrot juice.

However, once again I've shocked my boyfriend... It's almost gone. I don't often heal really quickly, but now I can occasionally feel it there, but it's not hurting and it's not visible anymore. So almost all gone... Thanks for all the advice...

Ooh, I get those all the time, especially when I am stressed.

I find keeping them moist helps, as gross as it sounds, if you let them get crusty they stay way longer and hurt way more.

completely off topic but I don't feel like making a separate post. If you get a chance, any healer people here, look up David Suzuki's The Nature of Things, he just recently did a show on Tibetan healing that was amazing. If you get a hold of it you will love it.

How can David Suzuki be doing any new shows?

Perhaps I've misheard, but I thought he'd died a few years ago.

Don't tell me I've been mourning my childhood tv hero and he's not even dead yet. #-o

Wow. That's great...

I'm telling you the misinformation that goes around doesn't help anyone. So What was he like? I loved watching him every week.

Almost any skin irritation can be cleared up with enough lavender. I love the stuff. Sapphire and I just made up a new batch for my sunburn.

Am I correct in thinking that it was lavander that my Gran Mother warned us against putting in the bath because it can produce a coma like trance? Or was that something else?

Lavender can definitely go in baths, I think it is an aphrodisiac...maybe that is what she meant.... 8-)

David Suzuki, very cool, took on a bunch of mouthy conservative party students in a debate and kicked their tushies....great hair too.

Why is he cold and thin though?
