For my daughter

Post by Bandersnatch » Tue Nov 18, 2008 8:00 am

My daughter has recently become very ill. It started about 3 weeks ago with nausea and vomiting. Then her legs and feet ached to the point where she could not walk but with no swelling or apparent reason for the pain. Now whatever this is has affected her heart. The doctor won't even make a guess and all her test results came back normal. We have now been referred to a specialist and we are waiting for an appointment.

So far she has lost 20 lbs and is starting to eat again but she is in constant pain and nothing seems to help. I am at a loss and could use some help to send her some aid. Anything you guys could do would be very much appreciated.

Hi there. Blessings definitely on the way, poor girl!

Can I ask what she is eating? Have you thought about looking into a milk/wheat/gluten/fruit/veggie allergy, particularly milk? Have you changed laundry detergent? Is it possible to get your water tested for possible toxins? Maybe for a few days cut out milk and wheat and see if that helps? These are the most common allergies and definitely cause reactions like you describe, with the nausea and rash, and allergies can be a sudden thing. Allergies can also go on to effect the heart as well. In fact, my FIL is dealing with that now, heart issues brought on by allergies. Also, if there is something in the water, it could be effecting her and not anyone else because of a sensitivity to particular metals or a compromised immune system. Maybe also cut out other common allergies such as strawberries, chocolate, celery, etc, but definitely milk and wheat first.

Also be aware of a total recall of any imports coming from China. This doesn't sound like melamine but I thought I would make you aware just in case.

I hope she starts feeling better soon, poor girl.

Thanks guys...your help is very much appreciated.

In answer to your questions. We drink filtered water and I have very recently changed the filter so I don't think its that. Food wise - for about two weeks the only thing she was really able to keep down were clear fluids, so largely consume and fruit juice. She is a type one diabetic so she has to eat a balanced diet to keep her sugars right. As to Laundry detergent, no change, I have allergies there and only one brand seems to not bother me.

I also initially thought of allergies as I have had various issues there so we have tried avoiding various foods to see if things get better and a food diary to track if anything seems to make it worse. There doesn't seem to be a pattern. My gut instinct tells me we will figure this out but it sure is a mystery at this point. Where is Dr. House when you really need him?

We did get an appointment for the specialist but have to wait until December 8 for the appointment. (Thanks to King Ralph - hes a politician in Alberta who likes to blow up hospitals and wrecked havoc upon our health care system.)

Allergies sometimes take months to calm down after changing eating habits, so don't rule it out yet.

You will figure it out, andhugs and blessings to you both, its always hard when kids are sick.

Just an update - in case anyone wants to know.

We have had some test results back and her adrenal gland is overactive and releasing too much cortisol. This is causing the high heart rate and most of the other problems. We are still waiting on the specialist and hopefully some treatment.

Thanks Mealroth...and to you too. I see you have also had your troubles. I know things will get better but it takes time and waiting can be very nerve racking. The best to you and yours.

I hope for speedy healing. [-o<
At the very least you now know what is going on. It seems like a balance thing going on but, I am not Dr House.
Love that show btw!

Thank you all and to you Kystar. I know your surgery will go well. I know when I have had to have surgery I found worrying about it was actually worse than surgery turned out to be.
