Kitties

Post by forgotten oceans » Sun Oct 26, 2008 11:08 pm

First and foremost, blessings to everyone, and I mean everyone, even mean little old fundie ladies, everyone. Period. The world needs more love.

So the story goes, I was silly enough to take in orphaned kittens about 3 weeks old. ](*,) I'm down to two out of three and the smaller of the two won't hardly eat. He'll eat a very little, but not like the other, I'm kinda worried, but he's not loseing waight and he's even tried to purr a little. So we'll see how things go for the next few days and if they don't pick up I'll take him to our Vet. Fingers crossed.

Aw hun you've got such a big heart...

What are you feeding them? I've heard amazing results with about 3/4c milk mixed with one egg. Even if you sort of spoon it into its mouth so it gets a taste, or on its nose so it licks it off. If it likes it but still doesn't eat, you can get a syringe and do a gentle "force feed" or it will end up just treating it like a bottle.

My blessings go out to the kitties! and to you!

Awe ... Poor little things. I'll definitely keep a spot in my blessings for the little fellows.

That is kind of you, sending a little energy their way.

Having raised a week old litter of kittens myself I know how hard it can be to keep them going. They do sell kitten formula at the pet stores and it's better than cow's milk which is hard on wee kitty's tummies.

Hope it goes well for you and the babies.

Me and Grimwell both send blessings to the little kitty and lots of love.

Grimwell suggests that you might want to take him to the vet sooner rather than later. He said he might be sick, and thowing up in small amounts or choosing places where you don't notice it. Especially for young kittens, this can be very dangerous.

I hope he survives... It's always tough for kittens that young away from 'mommy'.

Thanks all! Ya'll are gonna make me blush. It's been a long time since I've nursed baby kittens. I'm just a little nervous, it's only been 15 years. But I'm glad to report both are doing fine. The little one has perked up and eats and plays almost as much as the bigger one.

The first day I didn't have anything but Half and Half, but as soon as I could I went to Wal Mart and picked up some kitty formula. Cows milk isn't very good for kittens, it gives them the runs which if not looked after will kill them. :-(

When they get a little older I'll take them in for their vacs. I'm kinda excited to see them gainning weight and getting bigger. Awww, the miracle of life. :-D Again, thanks guys, I know there are bigger things to worry about then kitty cats, but thank you. >:D<

Good to know about the cows milk!! Gee, maybe I was thinking of goat's milk? Or maybe the people I was with who raised orphaned kitties weren't that knowledgable...?

Glad they are doing so well!!! And hey, I think after giving blessings to people who are broken, dying, running out of money, stressed, etc. it's a nice treat to send some blessings to baby kitties.

For good measure, here's the Aw of the Day:
