Accident on the highway

Post by FyreGarnet » Sat May 17, 2008 8:46 pm

I was driving home tonight and in front of me, a motorcyclist went down. I barely stopped in time, but I did it. I'm here asking for any help that you can give him. He wasn't wearing a helmet and they had to do CPR on him to get his heart going again. From what I know, he was still alive, because they choppered him out of there.

I'm just really hoping that he survives, and not just as a vegetable, cuz that's worse than death.

That is one scary thing to see.
I wish you comfort of mind and extra healing for him.

I will keep him in my prayers.

His friend called me today, and Jeff died that night.

I'm very sad about it, but also a bit mad at him for not wearing a helmet.

They are planning a memorial for him, and I want to go if I'm not working.

I'm sorry to hear that the guy died. His family has my sympathy and blessings.

I can understand your mixed reaction, though.

Too many young men treat a motorcycle, ATV or dirtbike like they're just over-sized tricycles, not like the complicated, advanced machinery they are.

Sigh.

Helmets are optional in PA, I think if you're over 18 or 21...I can't remember. It's crazy, the law requires Bicycle helmets despite age, but for a machine that can go almost as fast as a race car, it's your preference.

Part of the reason I'm mad is that he affected so many people that night. I'm mad because people who don't wear their helmets don't think of the people they affect in their lives.

I'm not sure he would have lived with a helmet, but it certainly was more likely. Apparently when they got him to the hospital, there was too much blood on his brain, and if they operated, he would have bled out, and they chose not to, so there was nothing they could really do. If his head had been protected, it might have survived.

That is why I'm angry.

Aw honey I'm sorry :(

It is a hard thing to watch someone young pass away because of something like this - well, anything, really.

I'm of the belief that we choose the way they go out, before we come in. I think it is wonderful that he could take the role he did to effect others and help them learn their own lessons. On a lower level, it is sad indeed that a young man should pass away, but on a higher level, I'm thinking he learned what he needed to learn and has helped others as well, including you, and, indirectly, all of us here who have been reading this. For that, he should be thanked and honoured.

Bless you in all that you do, my friend. I wish I had more comforting words.

Thanks, everyone. It's always good to know there are friends here who are willing to listen as well as teach me things.

I am sorry to hear of his passing.
I wish that I had something thoughtful or helpful to say but, I do not.
At the risk of sounding trite, things just happen.
