Serenitys surgery

Post by Wbdsgnr1 » Mon May 14, 2007 9:47 am

Well it is now official.....

Serenity is having her surgery on her hip on Thursday May 24th at 9am EST (8 am Central) at Kosairs Childrens hospital in Louisville, KY
[-o< [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o<

Its like a 3-4 hour surgery and she will be in the hospital overnight, and come home Friday morning. She will be in a spica cast that goes from her armpits to her ankles (with a cutout for her diaper) for 3 months.

I just thought I would let everyone know and maybe on this day you can keep her in your thoughts and prayers for protection/healing, etc. I know some of you do Reiki, etc. and you have my permission to do magick to help her out, it would just make me feel so much better. Combined with a ritual I am going to do the night before.

I know I am already a wreck about the whole thing. I really wish she didn't have to have this done so Im just trying to get it done and over with. If I can make it through this myself......... *sigh* My stomach is already in knots and I want to  cry  and  cry and cry, but I will save that for the 3-4 hour wait to see and hold my baby girl again.

I have updated pics of her on my myspace page here:

and on my facebook page

Sorry I haven't been around lately, we just have so much going on over here and all my energies have been focused on Serenity.
Thank you for being my online pagan family and sending your blessings, Firelord, Serenity and I sure do appreciate them.

My thoughts are with her.

She looks tough, I am sure she will be fine.

Blessings and power to you at this time, I can only imagine how scared you're feeling. Best wishes!

Well tomorrow morning is the big day

I can't help but thinking that today is my babys last normal happy day.
#-o #-o

Just really nervous and really scared and it gets worse as time creeps closer and closer. I still haven't decided what Im doing for her 3-4 hour surgery. Firelord wants me to get a book like he did, like I could read at a time like that, but I might get one just in case.

Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers [-o< [-o<I>:D<

Good luck, and grab a really easy book that you can put down and pick up.You might not read it but it will be good to have somethign to do with your hands.

I know this is nothing like what you will be experiencing, but when Chris was in emergency surgery for his severed finger, I waited with his parents outside for a few hours. I got a nature magazine and tried to ease the churning in my stomach with pretty pictures of woodlands and ducks. I think I traced the outline of one picture with my eyes like five times.

Your baby girl will be OK, sweetie. Look how you turned out. It will all be ok. She's safe, she's protected, and she has got a wonderful mommy and daddy to snuggle her when she is done. Everything will be ok

UPDATE:

Serenitys surgery is over with.

Now starts the hard part.

It was 5 hours of surgery, and shes in that horrible cast now.
She had to have a blood transfusion because she lost so much blood. Not dangerously low, not a threat to her life but enough that her heartrate was up, working hard to make up for it so they gave her blood. Kinda creeps me out, some strangers blood floating around my kids body.

But the worse parts are......... its really hard to take her out of the house so instead of going to wal mart as a family its one of us stays with her and the other goes. Its hard to hold her, awkward and heavy and cant put her on my hip. Just kinda scoop both arms under her to transfer her from one place to another. She seems to crave my touch and cuddling and I can't. Its hurting me so.

She has a special carseat on loan for the 12 weeks. A special wheelchair is supposed to arrive at our house next week, and we own it because the insurance paid for it. Can't wait to get it either. I put the matress from her crib on the floor next to our bed so we can be near her and help her.

Shes barely eaten a thing. Maybe 1 french fry and a few bites of mac n cheese. Scares me to death that I can't get her to eat -- not even her favorite foods. Shes drinking well. She sleeps so much and when shes awake she seems groggy/depressed/not really with it. She has barely pointed and grunted/talked at all. Altho yesterday she colored some pics at the hospital. I tried to read to her, something she was obsessed with right before all this and she crys, looks away, pushes the book away. I just don't see my little girls personality........ like shes gone.   And she sleeps so much. Mostly from the pain meds I guess. Its Tylenol with Codine.

Thats about it for now. I will post pics of her in the cast when I get a chance to take them.

Thanks everyone
BB
