I'll keep that Reiki coming!!

Try a bit of fennel... It increases milk production in breastfeeding women. Check it with your doc though because I've heard one or two sources say it's not so good. (Not recommended if you're pregnant, but it helps afterwards.)

Good luck! I wish her home soon!

I just called again to check on her and apparently she does fine with room air until its time to eat and thats when she de-stats.

I thought that sounded weird but they say lots of babies do that and its up to her when shes ready, so OK I am trying to deal with this.

Today I have only pumped once..... this morning. I think I have made the decision to stop doing it. Its more a source of stress then anything else. I really wanted to breastfeed but I didnt plan on her being born so early by C-section and being in a hospital away from me.

I kinda do feel like I have failed her already as a mom.... but formula isn't all that bad, its what I had. And my next kid (if i decide to have another) will be breastfed.

I also added another photo to the gallery, of Firelord holding baby.

You should not feel like a failure just because you decide to not breast feed! You are under a lot of stress already and if it is just going to cause you more then it is the right choice for you to not do it. But... that said, if you could hang in there until she gets home I have heard more women than not say that breast feeding (when done the normal way, no pumping lol) is very de-stressing, very relaxing and bonding for them and the baby. But the final choice is YOURS and you should not feel bad either way.

She is so darn cute and Firelord looks like a very proud daddy!

Don't feel bad, I am glad that you can listen to your body in that way. Just loving your Baby is enough to make up for the lack of breast feeding.

Well I don't know if that's my final decision or not, I kinda go back and forth.
If I can just hang in there like Stormy said for 2 more days..... I know it would all be worth it. Still gotta worry about getting my supply up there tho...

But anyhow, they called this morning and she came off her oxygen at 11pm last night. Now they just have to watch her for 48 hours to make sure nothing goes wrong and she can handle it.

They are just a little bit worried about her feedings, because she is supposed to finish a 2 oz bottle in 20 min, but since they took the oxygen off she took 30-40 min. Altho these were only with her nighttime feedings, so we will have to see how that goes.

So I am looking at her coming home Tuesday if all goes well.

Don't feel like a failure!

It's all right
All she needs is breast milk the first bit. Don't worry, really. It's your choice. I was never breast fed (my mom and I were both way too sick) and my mom and I are very connected, and I love her more than anyone. She didn't failed me. :-) And you haven't failed your daughter. All she needs is love, and she will grow up happy and healthy.

Firelord does look very proud!

Did I mention she is off her oxygen now and might come home Tuesday? :)
Did I also mention how beautiful my daughter is? :D *lol*

I went to visit her today and it was so great....... she didn't have any tubes or wires at all. Just that stupid brace on her legs, gggrrrrr. Oh well.

I'm very happy because my daughter is so happy and healthy and shes going to stay that way. And just to let you all know, I haven't made my final decision on the breast feeding thing yet, but I will certainly let you all know when I do make up my mind.

Thank you all so much for the support, prayers, love, energies, etc.
