Endoscopy...

Post by Stormy » Fri Jul 29, 2005 10:26 am

Well, I didn't want to say anything here until I knew something - been having stomach problems for over 3 weeks now - basically if I eat I get sick, stomach bloats so bad it feels like it will burst, abdomen bloats so much you'd think I was 5 months pregnant.

So, finally, I sucked up enough courage to go see the doctor today and surprise, surprise, he wants to run a couple of tests - first an ultra sound for my gall bladder, no big deal, but the second is an endoscopy and I'm not at all happy about that. The little warning about the "rare" problem of stomach preforation makes me nervous, as does the thought of having a camera on a tube shoved down my throat. So if anyone wants to throw some positive vibes my way to help me get through the thing and for the hope they don't find anything serious, it would be much appreciated :-)

I had the same problem myself a few years back ... doc wanted to do some tests, but me on some you-beaut pills similar to antacids - miraculously the pain was gone in a few weeks and I got out of having the little camera down my throat *phew*.

In any case, my thoughts will be with you, as it can be a nerve racking thought when you think about it. I shall send lots of energy your way to help with the nerves!

Blessings!!

I'll send you some major distance Reiki tonight to go to you during the procedure (hopefully reducing the stress of it and helping you to relax) as well as your most stressful times between now and then. I'll send some tonight.
Hope it goes well! Good luck! And don't worry. Better than a colonoscopy O___O

Indeed, indeed...

Thanks so much for all the support folks >:D<

The doc gave me some pills to try "in the meantime" - had one last night a few hours before eating dinner - it merely delayed the reaction by about 45 minutes :-(

Ok I so resent that since I am 5 months pregnant, and this one lady at work has twice now made comments about my weight or my clothes not fitting properly and she doesn't wnat to look at it.

And 2nd of all, your getting an ultrasound before me, Yay I cant wait for mine on Tuesday, don't worry they are fun and painless - right? :)

But sorry your feeling so bad Stormy, I will send good vibes for ya too!!

blessed be

Geeze, I didn't mean that in a bad way, just an observation ;) I do think though that the woman at your work needs to shut her trap. Maybe she's jealous?

Had many an ultrasound - they're painless, but, well, with the one you are getting, if they are telling you that your bladder has to be full, be prepared for some unpleasantness. I've had the ultrasounds before for the uterus when you've got to drink like a gallon of water before and they press down hard with that darn wand. I actually had to tell the girl the one time that unless she wanted me to pee all over her she had better ease up

Thanks for the good vibes :-)

Blessings, and good luck.

I'm not too partial to ultrasounds myself. No, sir.
First they ignore you.
Then they laught at you.
Then they fight you.
Then you win.

Thanks for all the help folks - I came through just fine and there wasn't anything "bad" found. I'm still feeling a bit out of sorts from the twilight drugs they give you but doing OK. The prognosis is that since they ruled out anything "bad" thru the sonogram and the endoscopy, that I have either GERD (acid reflux disease), IBS (irritable bowel disease) or a combo of both. They put me on more meds for six weeks, after which I will have a follow up visit. I SOOOOOO hope it's "just" IBS - the list of foods I can't have if it is GERD (and which I'm supposed to be trying to avoid now) is such that I may as well just stop eating anything!!!! In short...

No caffine
No fried foods
No fatty foods
No citrus foods
No chocolate
No pork

I'll stop there before I strike fear in your hearts, but there is MUCH more I'm not allowed to eat. But cutting out caffine and citrus kills a large part of my daily diet - no more coffee, no more tea, no more orange juice, no more fresh oranges, grapefruit or tangerines, no more fresh lemonaide - and no more fatty foods - for the love of the Goddess EVERYTHING is a fatty food in one way or another!

*Sigh*... well, at least I'm not horrifically ill :-)

Good thing it is nothing bad and I hope it's "JUST" IBS
I know nothing of the other one. Good to know you don't have an ulcer or anything very bad ^^
