Travel blessings

Post by Wbdsgnr1 » Sun Mar 13, 2005 9:37 am

Hey everyone.

Just thought I would let you know today I am flying out to Arizona for the week for vacation. See my family and freinds and get my mind off of work and other such stress.

Only problem is, I hate flying! I gotta take dremamine and i still feel kinda ickish. My flight leaves at 7pm Central time. I would really like blessings for safe travel and not to feel bad on the flight. Its a 2 hour drive from here to the airport in Louisville, and then an almost 4 hour flight, and then a 2 hour drive to my parents house.

While I am away I will have more free time to check the board, etc.
I love you and miss you all so much.

Blessed be

Best advice for flying is to not be very alert when you're getting on the plane. Sleep deprevation works for me every time. I pass out before the plane even leaves the boarding area and wake up somewhere in the air.

Either that, or headphones and a book. I also bring my laptop with me and watch the occasional movie.

My thoughts are with you. Safe trip and Bright Blessings.

Ugh, I hate flying too but not cuz it scares me, it's because of the ear-popping and how tired it makes me. It takes me most of the time of the vacation just to recover from the jet lag. Then, by the time I've recovered, it's time to get back on that awful plane again! #-o Best wishes for a safe trip and minimal jet lag! [-o<

Thank you all so much! That was teh best flight i have ever had, I felt fine. I listened to my CD player, read/flipped thru some magazines and talked to the girl who sat next to me, who is from Phoenix (has been her whole life) but was in Kentucky visiting her bf of 9 years who is stationed out there in the military.

And now im here and the weather is crappy. No sunshine for me yet. :(
But im going thru my room and relaxing and spending time with family and freinds.

Glad your flight went well and you got there all in one piece.
You're not missing much in the way of weather. The temperature dropped about 20 degrees in the span of an hour. Course, you're north of me so it might have been ok there.

Well tomorrow morning is my return flight home. My plane leaves at 9:50am MT Time (or Arizona time) and I land between 2-3pm Central time.

Hopefully this flight will be as smooth as the last one. And I can get off the plane and run into Firelords loving, awaiting arms! Yay.

blessed be

I find the fear of flying thing interesting. My girlfriend actually goes on to every flight assuming she will die on it. The strange thing is that she's not scared. She simply takes the advice "live every day as if it were your last" to this extent. It took my a while to understand. It also has something to do with her mother (rest her soul). When they would fly over water, they would hold hands and pray.

The only time I've been afraid was the first time I had an encounter with turbulence. Well, it was the first time I could remember. My mum says that when I was young one time we were flying toward her hometown and we caught some nasty turbulence that made everyone on the plane erupt into prayer (ready, set, ROSARY!) but just made me laugh. The only time I remember catching bad turbulence was when I was about 12 years old. Hmm, in fact, I wasn't so much scared as much as I just thought the feeling really sucked. I've never been scared to fly on Mexican planes because they have a better record than American ones.

My dad is actually mortified of flying. He's never done it and refuses to go on a plane. He says he wouldn't do it even if you paid him. Someone's never going to live his dream of seeing Europe...

Anyway, I just thought the whole fear of flying thing was interesting.

Vetle: your dad doesn't have to fly to see Europe. I'm totally and utterly phobic of flying, and the idea of flying over all that open water makes my skin crawl...but I'm considering an Italian-Greek honeymoon. We're deciding if we want to suck it up and fly, or if we want to take a ship. A trans-Atlantic cruise is a nice thing, so long as you don't hit storm season.

Kystar: Actually he does have to because his vacations are very short because they have a system at his work to keep people from taking long vacations. I think you can only be out for like two weeks. O ya, I just remembered my dad gets seasick too...

oh, well, then he'll have to wait until he retires, and then he'll have to decide if he'd rather be seasick or get on a plane.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do...probably take a knockout drug and fly.
