Newbie to everything

Post by PassionatePhoenix » Sun Feb 19, 2006 3:51 pm

I'm 17...female...I live in the United States....I'm a senior and I'm planning on going to college to major in English and eventually become a copy editor at a publishing company...hopefully...
I came across the pagan/Wicca/mystical creatures by total accident actually....I'm in a book club at my school...and we read a book dealing with fairies last month...so I started researching it deeper...fairies led me to vampires which led me to paganism...and it's all very interesting...
I'm not really sure what I am...since I am a newbie I do not know much about paganism...while I was raised Methodist...I never really have totally agreed with everything...and shortly after I turned 13...I stopped going to church...
I guess I just need some guidance maybe...I'm reading what I can to see where I stand...any help would be appreciated
:-D

First off, welcome!!!

Second, just play it by ear, and be easy on yourself. It takes sometimes quite a while before you find your path. This may be it and this may not be it. For us here, it happened to be it.

Read read read!!! Check out the book club posts (ha ha Stormy beatcha to it!).

My personal advice is to meditate. Work on getting to know your body and your mind without judgment, and really listen to those inner thoughts that tell you to be spiritual in nature or to be spiritual in a church or synagogue or wherever is right for you.

I hope you enjoy it here!

I agree with Crazy Lady Healer. Take a look at all your options and don't worry if what seems right at 18, seems a little tired at 21. That can happen easily while you're still learning where your place is. We'll all be here to help you whenever we can.

All good advice given already to which I can agree. Paganism is a many varied path and a path that will change and grow with you as you change and grow. Unlike the Christian religions (and other monotheistic religions) it is a religion about connecting to the Divine in what ever way works for you. No one will try to force feed you doctrine. My personal opinion is that Paganism is how the Divine intended us to relate to it in the first place - freely, openly, and on an individual basis.

And BTW - welcome to the library :-D
