World of Warcrack

Post by Rowan » Tue Jan 05, 2010 12:15 pm

Okay yeah. I'm addicted. Like everyone else and their mother. Don't get me wrong. If there's something else to do, I'll do it, but if not, I usually sign on to play.

I'm on the Madoran server in the US. I'm really upset with Blizzard right now, though. They've turned Madoran into a new player server and when I want to play in the evenings, there's a guaranteed wait. I would love to transfer to a different server, but they want $25 to make that happen. I really wish they'd offer another server transfer for free but it hasn't happened since late 2008. *sigh*

I have played both sides, though I prefer Alliance. I have one cr*p level 80 draenei death knight called Andrasta; one lvl 72 gnome rogue called Tynkk and my night elf druid currently lvl 47. She's the one I've been playing most lately. I'm trying to do things right with this toon instead of half-a***d like the others. I have a variety of lower level toons on both sides. My fave Horde toon is my undead rogue Dropdeddfred. I think that's the spelling. I know I had to get creative with it when I created him. I also have a tauren druid called Eetmorchikin. I got that from the Chik-fil-a adverts cos that's my favourite fast food restaurant.

I love the scenery and the whole back-story of the game, but I don't want to buy into Cataclysm because all the beautiful scenery will be destroyed.

Anyhoo... I know from other threads that others play so fess up and tell me what you play and where. Maybe if you're not on a PvP server, we might meet up. :-D
I have lost my way.

I don't touch the stuff, personally. *Bleech*

Hubby played one hour of his free trial before deleting it. Of course, that probably had something to do with the amount of razzing I was doing.

We play Guild Wars when we get the MMORPG bug. No Monthly fees on that one. Better graphics, In my opinion. Cooler characters. Though, you pay full game price for any expansions.

Though, I'm more likely to play Elder Scrolls V: Oblivion on the Xbox, and Hubby's more likely to rot his brain on Fallout 3.

I admit when I play Guild Wars, i tend to play my maxed level Necro/Elementalist. Blood and Fire mage...nasty nasty. I've got a few lower level characters I'm experimenting with, most of them with some sort of Necro flavor. My Warrior/Necro is horrific in a fight. Got a Necro/Mesmer I'm working on, and another Necro/Elementalist...trying to focus her on Curses and Ice Magic. I don't do PvP, just PvE in that one. I don't like PvP. I get enough of that crap on halo 3.

FYI Rowan I deleted the low-level swears  in case you're wondering why stars are now where they weren't before!

I tried to get into WoW, I really did, as did hubby. However, after a month, we stopped playing. Hubby is madly in love with FFXI online which he's played for a good number of years now (since it came out... 2003? 2004?), and I've got a character on there, but I haven't played it since September. He's been dual-boxing my character. Eventually I will go back to FFXI, as it's some fun quality time with him, but for the life of me I can't stand sitting that long.

Online games astound me. The friendship you can have with people all over the world is taken to an entirely new level. Suddenly you have stories of epic battles and so-and-so saving your butt at just the last second, like a war buddy.

I used to play guild wars, but honestly, online tends to annoy me. I'm not very good at video games to begin with, let alone playing with other people.

I was thinking about starting a character on Ragnarok online... If that ones any good, I'll let you know.

I'm not bad at certain games, but I'm picky about who I play with online.

I never liked the Guild Wars "Random Party" thing...just jumping into a group with whoever. Our Guild in game has a rule. If I don't know you from somewhere else in RL or online, I don't invite you. Part of that is because we used Skype to voice chat while playing...and part of that was because I was there for fun...not to conquer worlds. Besides, its easier to scrabble together tactics if I know someone's playing style.

The only time I'll do random people online is if I'm in Halo 3 with Hubby...then I'll do matchmaking so it's not him and I running around a map killing each other. Probably b/c it puts my nose out of joint when the boy gets a 25 - 5 win on me. I'm not BAD at the game...but I was better at Halo 2.

No I don't mind that you deleted my swear words. I wasn't sure if they were allowed at first, but most sites I'm on have a filter automatically there to change them. I figured a low-level one like mine was acceptable since it was still there, but if not, that's totally okay.

I guess ultimately I got into playing WoW because I am a writer and the whole over-arching story appealed to me as a writer. I've read the whole history for the in-game story a few times just so I can see how the bits I play fit in with everything. Before I started playing, I'd never been one to play games of any sort. This is the only MMORPG game I play and I only just now got a Wii for Yule. The last console gaming device I owned was an Atari 5200. :-D

I am happy playing WoW, but can understand others' reasoning to not play that particular game or none at all.

Stories can be a good reason to play a game...but when the graphics and character presentation make me laugh so hard I can't see the keyboard...well, it's not a good game for me.

I like most of the story of Guild Wars...and I love the story-arch for both Elder scrolls game.

Then again, I was playing video games a lot as a kid...latchkey kid, they had to give me SOMETHING to keep me out of trouble. I think I spent equal time on Mario and Sonic as I did reading. It sort of evolved from there. I won't say I'm totally addicted, but its a definite way to waste a few hours of my life. Though, it's also, in some cases, a way to be sociable. We've had nights where we've had friends over, and sat in front of the xbox for a variety of games...instead of going out and spending money nobody had.

Or, we've had nights where we got together with friends from out of town on a voip program and played GW together...very fun.

Then I really think you all will love this Link -> WOW ROFLMAO

And if there is an ad banner on the bottom of the YouTube screen, minimize it so you can see the captions, they are just as funny.

Frankly, I prefer the official Avenue Q version. There's something about a Muppet-looking puppet singing that song that just makes me nearly die laughing.

The best one I ever saw of "The Internet is for Porn" was an AMV done to Trigun. It was hilarious. Everyone at my anime festival wanted them to win the AMV contest, but the judges decided they should award it to people who had perhaps done better work, if not nearly so entertaining.
