The Sailing Wizard - Tales of the Navy

Post by Hytegia » Sat Sep 11, 2010 11:26 am

I'm back, everyone...
First off, I should calmly state that experience from turning into a full-on U.S. Sailor was an adventure unlike anything I'll ever forget. It was so memorable that I can remember everything that happened as clear as day - both the good moments, and the moments that dragged me through the depths of hell and back.
(There are some things that, legally, I cannot discuss with you. I apologize if it seems as if there's gaps in my story.)

Well, my main story is that of overcoming religious adversity. There was plenty of it, especially considering that you are yanking out people from all over the country in a random jumble and stuffing them into a division, expecting them to get *stuff* together and work as a team.
I was the easily-ridiculed black sheep, however, because I was the only Wiccan in my division. I took alot of *crap* for it, of course, but nothing I couldn't handle.
However, at the very end of my journey through RTC Great Lakes, something happened. I found another one as me (this occoured only an hour before the event called "Battlestations" which I cannot discuss).
His name was Aaron. Before Battlestations, they told me and other people to take out our dog tags. I removed mine and, there it was, my pinnacle dangling from my neck. The instructor passed us, and I put mine up... Then, someone not from our division poked me on the shoulder.
"Was that a Pentagram?" he asked me. I calmly told him that I was Wiccan, expecting the same bitter responses that I usually received duiring my training. It was then, however, that he pulled out his tags -
A pinnacle.
"I hope she's watching over us tonight, brother. We're going to need every bit of it."
*I was amazed at this point - and from here on, I'm not at liberty to discuss the rest of the events with Seaman Aaron and myself that night. I can only say that, though much adversity and strife - we did our jobs and saved the ship. And we all became United States Sailors that night.

So, I would like to say that it's good to be back - and I'm happy to be able to talk to all of you once more. And, from all of the Pagans in Pensacola, Florida - "Blessed Be."

Grammartrix demands, and I must post!

pinnacle is defined as the top of something, usually a mountain.
pentacle is the five pointed star in a circle, sometimes called a pentagram (though that is usually associated with satanists b/c the star is inverted).

I'm glad you survived and are doing well, Hytegia.

Good to hear you survived. How does it feel to be serving your country? Do you think you're going to a be sailor for life? Hope this means we'll be hearing from you more often again.

Welcome to the Brotherhood of the Uniform, Hytegia. We seem to have a decent number of military folk here. I'm very happy to count you among our number. What a wonderful story! Right when you needed a boost, the God and Goddess reach out and tap you on the shoulder in the form of a Brother in the faith! It's the little moments like this that keep me going, these days. It's so great to see Their hand in others' lives.

Glad to see you back safe and sound. Hope you get to do your first cruise someplace exciting!

Right now I'm stationed in Pensacola, Florida for training in super-top-secret-ninja-shadow stuffs. But it's pretty cool that there are other Pagans down here aswell. I -REALLY- needed that boost that night, considering that the whole 12-hour course tested every inth of what we'd learned about being a sailor. Even if I COULD tell you, I wouldn't even remember most of what happened - because everything about that night seemed to cram into one, huge, chaotic mess.

But that was really great.

SN Hytegia, United States Sailor, has a nifty ring to it.

Right now, I'm trying everything I can to get the top 3% of my class in training so that I can choose my station, and get placed in the Airforce/Naval base in Germany (thanks for the encouragement, CHL!). If any of you are in Pensacola the next few months, just drop me a line and I'll be happy to get you on base and all that.

Really.

Then you have already failed for even mentioning "it".
