Website!!!

Post by Kitsune » Mon May 17, 2010 3:42 pm

Well, I have bought my website domain, and my brother-in-law agreed to host it for me. I should have it set up by the end of the week (barring any ](*,) issues...), but I will of course let you know how how its coming along and when it's up. I would love your opinions of it, although I do give the warning... The first few weeks I won't have tons up there. I plan on posting one bit of writing each week (perhaps more later on, but for now once a week should do) and blog once to twice a week on it.

I can't wait to have some of you come and take a look!

I haven't seen anyone registered yet, but as it's just a blog page, I don't know if you can register on it. Unless you went to my writing forum (writer's retreat) instead... but your name should be good there... hmm; Weird.

Eh, either way, it's up and ready to play with! The link is below, and although I don't have much up right now, I will be putting more up as time goes by. Most likely I'll be blog posting twice a week, and putting in new writing stuff every week.

Yep, you signed up for my writer's forum... We're still glad to have you, and your account has been registered (I checked last night, and your name wasn't there... so I must have just missed you on it. My bad.)!

So, what do you all think about the site?

Too colourful? Too Flashy? Not flashy enough? Hard to Read? Let me know what you think.

Considering that I haven't designed this one from scratch, I'm pretty happy with the way it's turning out, but I always like outside opinions. :-D

I always find white print on black a bit of an eye strain, but it suits the style of what you are writting. There was one page where it was grey on black, which was particularly eye popping. But THAT could be my computer screen.

I like it. Well done. =D>

Thanks Ragnar!

I find the white on black can be a bit overpowering as well, but I've checked the other colours including the pastels and grey tones... The white is the easier to read on a variety of screens. I'm hoping to find a way to make the writing a bit bigger than it is currently, and if I can find a grey tone that will work better and not be quite as bright, I may incorporate that later as well.

Otherwise, the only adjustment that I'd like to do is to add a comment section directly to my pages section, so that I can have questions and conversations about the story on the same page as the story, and not simply the blog post where I say what I posted.

Everyone has said that it's a good site, though I did get one comment about how the colourful buttons seemed a bit out of place... What do you guys think, buttons-wise? :-k

They appear a bit large, and bright. But the brightness may have to do with the black background page.

If you add a comments page, then be prepared to have to do a lot of "moderating", particularly for "spam".

I love the site, Kitsune! As for the buttons, they absolutely should stay. They're fantastic!

If you check the pages again, I found a different colour for the main writing... I believe it's called "Smoky Grey". I've changed the colours to it on the general page... It is a bit more easy to read in this colour on the black.

I'm really impressed with the feedback I've gotten so far too! One person told their friends about it, and she now has four people asking to make certain that I'm going to keep posting.

I'm so impressed!

I am going to wait until I get the new computer set up, AND the new monitor, but NOW I just can not read it at all.

Wait and see what the new monitor makes of it. This one appears to be "fading" any way.
