Pagan police given
Halloween holiday

Friday, 17 July 2009
Pagan police officers are being allowed to take up to eight days holiday a year to observe Pagan festivals such as Halloween and the summer solstice.

One force allows Pagan staff to change around their traditional bank holidays to fit with the Pagan calendar.

The same force has also appointed two Pagan chaplains.

The changes came as the Home Office agreed to the establishment of a Pagan Police Association.

A spokesman for the Home Office said: “The Government wants a police service that reflects the diverse communities it serves.”

Where's PC Pagan? He's at the Summer Solstice, Sarge...

We've got a Black Police Association, a Gay Police Association, a Muslim Police Association and now - stop tittering at the back - a Pagan Police Association.

The Home Office has agreed to the establishment of a support group for officers who practise Paganism and witchcraft. Druids and Wicca worshippers will also be welcome to join.

The Office of National Statistics reported that there were 31,000 practising Pagans in England and Wales in 2001. The same survey also reported 390,000 Jedis.
JEDI MIND TRICKS, I SAY!!!

I think the first one was somehow trying to insinuate that Pagans are taking over the world... I don't know why a place like Christian.org.uk would try that, but who could ever tell these things? xD

Great Read, Librarian.

The MAIN problem here is that the bunch "Heathens/Pagans/Wiccans/etc/etc, ell together.

MY holidays are NOT the same date as, for example CHL's. But "They" would try and bunch us all in the same group.

They just do NOT understand Heathenism/Paganism. and never will.

Let's face it Ragnar, the problem comes when you have Norse Re-constructionist Wiccans, and Heathens who follow the Norse Deities and just Heathens. Without wanting to learn why we have divisions they'll never understand that they're actually different.

Heck, we have enough problems convincing these people that while all Wiccans are Pagan, not all Pagans are Wiccans!

I think you can still take off whichever days are granted to you though... so long as you have a political organization that says those are indeed your holy days.
Trying to create a world, even in words, is good occupational therapy for lunatics who think they're God, and an excellent argument for Polytheism. -S.M. Stirling
