Obama Wins!!!

Post by Crazy Healer Lady » Tue Nov 04, 2008 8:13 pm

Can we erase the Bush legacy?
Does this mean a new age where the USA government undoes the mistakes of the last eight years?

Please share your thoughts on the election for all those who have been watching and feel effected by the outcom, for good or bad :)

Well, my cynical side is actually nervously waiting the slew of hate-filled activities that will possibly be aimed at the poor man for being ambitious enough to go for Pres.

However, I can hope that his campaign wasn't built on lies like so many other politicians. I can hope that he's going to follow through with working to improve the US infrastructure and economy, that he's going to do something to stop the war-mongering and hate that's being thrown out.

But, we won't know for sure until he's there to do something. After all, he doesn't get inaugurated until January.

I know I voted for him. I was impressed that he won by such a strong margin...saying very clearly that "same ol', same ol'" isn't enough for voters anymore.

All I can do is hope right now that he will do the job.
I put my faith in the unknown with the hope that it is better. McCain and Palin was the known factor for me....much of the same old thing. [-o<

I am not sure that the legacy of Bush can be healed so easily. We are talking about eight years of flushing the country down the toilet because of "family values."

Many of the issues being voted on in certain states have been voted down. Abortion was not banned outright (forget which state exactly). Human life was not redefined in the Colorado state constitution to being conception. Preditory Casinos will not be opened in Ohio.
This brings me hope.
I, however, am not shocked that McCain won majority of the Southern States aka The bible belt.
Obama won Ohio because the heavy populated Urban centers voted for him (Cleveland, Toledo, Cincinati, and Columbus). The rural counties in Ohio, not shockingly, went with McCain....as they normally reflect the Bible Belt.

I found it amusing that people in Kenya right now are celebrating Obama winning. Perhaps this is a sign that the opinions of the country will be healed.

EDIT: The anti-gay marriage in California was upheld. It was winning before I went to bed. Very sad that the ban won.

I also voted for Obama. Was it you Lotus that wrote John McBush and Bible Spice? That gave me a good chuckle. Obama and Biden have a very long and hard road ahead of them and I don't expect things to get better any time soon. I don't know what kind of repair can be done to the economy since there was a lot of people involved who made the mess to begin with. We will just have to wait and see what transpires over the next four years.

I've yet to speak with my Kenyan friends about the change, but I know they'll be happy. The USA holds sway in so much of world politics. Even the idea of having a black president - if you were to ignore everything else about the man - will help to bring some measure of peace. I hope for an Africa without the hatred. A world, really. Africa right now is in such a hole. There are powerful people on it, though, in just the beginning stages :)

I'm looking forward to what the future brings. I feel like I'm opening a present on Christmas. I am so impressed by the number of people who want CHANGE, and that, more than Obama winning or anything, makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

I've had over 12 hours to process it and I've yet to fully come to grips with the enormity of it all.

I've only been this happy 3 times in my life before: When I got my order shipping me home, when Sapphire said "I DO" and when our daughter was born.

Obama has a lot of work ahead of him. Hopefully we Americans will support him as fully as we did to get him here.

Namaste >:D<

I think it's very important that we remember what has been done, every ugly detail of it. You don't learn without seeing the errors. As far as erasing the past, well that of course is impossible but we can start from where we are and make it better. Ppl don't understand and in some cases done know how bad it's really gotten under Bush, those problems need to be credited to the right ppl the right administration the right congressional control.

Since the dems have taken the house, they have been critisized for not doing what they were hired to do, well without that 2/3 majority, there are still problems with the reps. So much was done under their rule that it will literally be decades to undue it all and generations to pay the bills for it's doing.

Think of it this way, the gop and the dnc are rival gangs only civilized (well kind of) and we, the people of the US and the property and money we generate, is the turf that they are fighting over. Okay this isn't how it's suppose to be, they are suppose to be working for us and the greater good but that's changed now hasn't it.

My personal opinion is that with every task that is worked on, first the problem should be identified and who created it. Yes put the blame squarely on the right shoulders, then solve the problem taking full credit or blame for the result of the new solution. This is the only way we will be able to weed our government of the self indulging, self interest persons and groups. Keep us informed always even if it's repetitious.

All in all, I have great hope and personally am ready to roll up my sleeves to help where I can.
