Save Buffy!

Ok, so Im not really watching Buffy, but you've got to love this:
Hollywood actress SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR's hit show BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER has been blamed for 50,000 women abandoning traditional Western religion to study paganism.
Go here to read the rest:

My favorite line:
The Church of England has declined to comment on the study.

Ah you should have heard the maniacal laugh!

Wow. Buffy, really? She's single-handedly being credited? I would have thought Sabrina would have played a part, or maybe The Craft, or Charmed. Sabrina, after all, originated in the Archie Comics waaaaaaay back and made witchery "fun."

Not sure it was the female empowerment that originally drew them. It was probably David Boreanaz and James Marsters. (PS this is meant as a joke. Actually Buffy fans, don't revolt!)

I personally think it must have been Evil-Willow...

She was so hot that even women stopped and took notice! =P~

:-" :-D

What was that other movie... Practical Magic, that was it!

I loved that one... Easily drew me more to the craft than Buffy. They showed the power as almost close to what it is... Simple, usually silent, and not noticible. Except when you truly need it to be.

What about Witches of Eastwick? or The Wicker-Man?

I haven't seen Practical Magic. I'll have to, now!

Save Buffy? Buffy's been LONG off the airwaves in my region except for re-runs...so aside from banning the sale of the DVD's...I see no way for people to make a stink.

And I would think that Charmed would have made more curious about Wicca than Buffy, as only one character in Buffy was a true witch, as opposed to an entire family in Charmed.

Gotta love how those in power choose their scapegoats.
You say "Witch" like it's a bad thing!

The WickerMan showed us as still sacrificing living men to the God of the Woods. And while we may do that symbolically, I don't think many of us do it literally.

And lets face it, the movie had no hero... It was hard enough to find a protanganist. The women were standoff-ish, the men were weak and cowed, and the cop was a runner-up for the Obstinate Idiot of the Year Award!

Sorry, but that movie was a sore disapointment for me... :-? I was all set to enjoy it, I had high expectations... and they let me down.

Even simply changing the story so that at least the "High Priestess" character was likable (even if she was still unknowable) would have been a major improvement to the story.

The new one with Nicolas Cage... I haven't gotten to see the old one, but a friend who had only seen it, and not the new one said that it was the same.

Was he mistaken? He's not pagan (nominally Buddist, actually), so it could have been a misunderstanding on his part...

It's a world conspiracy against Pagans!

Nah. It pobably made a good story in Cage's head. Maybe he had a Wiccan ex girlfriend that he wanted to make angry. I must admit: It was a cool movie before the whole burning conspiracy bit

Nah, It was Lost that turned me Pagan.
Living island with magical properties yeah, sounds Pagan to me.

Buffy has been off the air for five years, right?

Here in Canada, there are still comics that they're making for Buffy.

In it, Buffy is all a sudden a raging lesbian, and has 4-5 Slayers that she seems to keep around simply for "relaxation" purposes, because they seem to be utterly helpless otherwise.

Apparently, since Joss Wheden(sp?) is actually the one doing the comic, this is how he originally wanted the character to be like... From what Grimwell has said, apparently he couldn't pay Sarah Michelle Gellar enough to kiss another girl on air. :-({|=

Bah. I never enjoyed the series. The original Buffy MOVIE, however, was fantastic! It was absolutely hilarious, sexy, and had PeeWee Herman as the evil main vampire, so there's your creepy factor. Surprising how he makes such a good villain... Everyone always forgets about the movie.

The movie was awesome... I particularily love his luitenants death scene that takes 5 minutes... Then continues during the credits! A great Movie...

One of my favourite quotes comes from that movie. "I think all the students learned a valuable lesson here today. I mean, except for the dead ones... Well, I mean, they learned it, but they didn't have much time to really apply it."

The show was okay for a season, and maybe part of season two... Not much more.

Even Angel didn't hold much appeal for me... Even if Yummy David B. was the main character.

I've only seen the new one... Perhaps I'll see if I can find the old one on the internet somewhere and watch it. I have a couple of old movies I've been told I have to watch.
