New Form of Cancer Treatment June 2/08

Post by Crazy Healer Lady » Mon Jun 02, 2008 3:34 am

CHICAGO - A drug to prevent bone loss during breast cancer treatment also substantially cut the risk that the cancer would return, results that left doctors excited about a possible new way to fight the disease.

It is the first large study to affirm wider anti-cancer hopes for Zometa and other bone-building drugs called bisphosphonates. Zometa, made by Novartis AG, is used now for cancers that have already spread to the bone.
Basically, the treatment for bone loss during cancer, may be a cancer treatment in itself! Huge for patients with mets to the bone, because at that point most drs like to label people "palliative."

Thank you ^_^

Although the chances are not as high, men get breast cancer, too. I've only met one or two men with breast cancer, amid scores of women.

It is really incredible how many people have cancer. At my workplace, we have roughly 700-800 clients in the community, and 90% either have cancer or have had cancer. In the Hospice, 9/10 residents are dying of cancer in some form. Makes one wonder...
