Just a thought

I was reading this article
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/ ... ional/home

inshort, it talks about how family people, but mostly women, aree having trouble in law jobs because of the demands of 70+ hours a week.

I decided to read the comments on the story

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/ ... ional/home

and found myself appalled. The sexism and complete misunderstanding of the issues floored me.

Do you think that the internet allows people the ananomity to speak on things they don't know without receiving the proper criticism? I don't think that these opinions reflect larger society (sexism and racism in Canada is much mre subconscious now, still there, but publicly unacceptable). Maybe online discussions forums for newspapers just draw people who think they know something.

Either way, I am not going to comment on the paper, it is a small forum with no real way of accomplishing anything. But I hope that all people don't secretly feel like this and just aren't saying anything.

I wouldn't be surprised if the comments all came from men.

Damn sexist people. They like to go around and screw things up for fun.
