When you wear a pentacle ring, do you wear it point up, for you to see or point up for others to see?

I might be getting my ankh back! \:D/ \:D/ \:D/
It turns out that my friend's car was not stolen but towed by the cops. Remember he took it and put them in the trunk of his car. Well, it was his own dumb fault because I kept on telling him to get is registration renewed and he got so many tickets that they just towed him. His father stepped in and is not paying the $1,000 or so to get the car back and is selling it.
I kept on telling him just to borrow the $40 from his dad so they would stop ticketing oh but no, he did not listen to me.

It might be in big sack that he took out of the trunk of the car.

Actually she is... sort of. The ahnk was used by many early christians..Especially the egyptians. The coptics, I think they were called. If you do a cross search in google, you'll find in christian symbology sites, although I forget the official name of it.

Hmmm isn't that interesting.
Does anyone know the age of the Anhk?

It would be interesting to correlate the date of the Anhk's existence over to the spread of christianity into to Egypt.
I would really like to know that.

I am not sure exactly but I know at least that the symbol was used by Seti I who was ruler fairly recent to the joining of upper and lower egypt. Of course if I remember correctly. #-o

The ankh is the sign of eternal life so many gods and goddess's yoused it...Like Anubis, and Ma'at they both use it...but now Im dumb founded, christianity came after the egyptian times...so wouldnt the ankh be in the egyptian times and not the christian era??? Or did the egyptians still use the symbol even after the egypian times?

From what I understand, christianity found the ankh in egypt and converted it like they did people. They took the top oval of and replaced it with a straight line, forming the cross known today. Also, by removing the oval, it removed the femanine side of things.

But you make a good point FairyDust

Beacuse the pagan egyptian era came first, Christianity used a lot of symbols, myths and other things to help convert the pagans. They would not banish all the pagan stuff, so you will find the Ankh and many many other things that are originally pagan were carried over into the earlier Christian era.

Many early christians did magick too, its only later that more and more of the pagan related stuff got pushed out and became the christianity we know today.

blessed be

It definately origionated long before christianity... but it got used by christianity too.

The oval=female explination is one that I've seen made by Celtic Christians as to their theology being less sexist... they brought it back.

Hi,
I tend to wear my pentacle ring for me to see, as it is a less noticeable than a necklace, and then I wear my pentacle necklace for others to see.
