Psychic Vampires

Gods help me when I'm from the old school days...

Has anyone else noticed that a great deal more people are calling themselves Psychic Vampires? Is there a string of books released recently? A TV show? Is it that people are more aware of it in the Pagan, New Age, and Metaphysical communities, or is it happening more frequently?

Is this a generational thing?

I don't know. Even with knowing a few vamps, I still don't get it. I've watched their energy and don't see too much different than the normal energy defenses. One I know feels like hematite, heavy, but that's about it.

Vamps among us, care to share your thoughts?

Too fried to get deep into this right now, but it really comes down to your definitions of vampire & psychic & thereby psychic vampires. Are there a lot out there? Yep, always have been if you consider them being who can or must feed off of some form of energy from another life form. But also, yes, a lot more has gone public info wise and as usual been lumped together or mis-classified, so I think it's largely the larger amount of general info available today which is in part fueling the current "metaphysical fad". Think back to how ESP publications affected pop culture in the 70s & 80s, how the surge in publications on Wicca in the 90s spurred the late 90s - 2000s plastic pagan, fluff bunny & goth kid witch rebels without a clue.

This is, largely I believe, just the next wave of that. If you spend 2010-2019 flooding all metaphysical & occult outlets as well as chain bookstores with reprints of Crowley, en mass, I believe we'd see a similar trend of Crowley-ties with the hard core rebels following something like Israel Regardie or some such.

This is the neopagan & earth centered spirituality version of reality tv. :-D

That excites me to no end. I imagine something like Ohmygods Comics.

You know, I've actually noticed a surge of reprinted Cowleys in metaphysical stores.

How do you define psychic vampire?

My personal definition is broad, any being that feeds off psychic energy from others. I consider a spiritual vampire one that focuses on spiritual energy, but essentially a sub form. Of course, that includes non-corporeal beings & psychic/magical "leeches" too.

Could it also be due to the fact that fictional Vampires have become quite popular currently? So they are marketing to those fans as well...
