Madron Holy Well desecrated by vandals who are ‘no better than ISIS or Taliban’ | Plymouth Herald

An act of “shocking vandalism” at a site deemed sacred for centuries has been compared to jihadists’ destruction of ancient sites in the middle east.

Madron Holy Well, near Penzance in West Cornwall, has long been celebrated for its supposed healing powers. The site is still used by paganists who tie rags – or ‘clouties’ – to branches of trees as part of healing rituals.
